HeartBeets presents… Mission Families Focus Group
HeartBeets is excited to partner with Department of Public Health’s Population Health and Prevention Division to develop a collective vision for health and well being in San Francisco. PHP is committed to hearing directly from residents and providers about their priorities for themselves, their families, and their communities. HeartBeets is facilitating a series of neighborhood based focus groups with diverse communities in the eastern sections of the city. The results of these focus groups will be integrated with PHP priorities to inform the Department of Public Health overall vision for health and well-being in San Francisco. Swords to Plowshares presents… SHOUT! Art by Women Veterans
Shout! was created to celebrate women veterans, and was inspired by the notion that the arts encourage expression and healing. This event attracts hundreds of veterans and supporters to share in the artistic expression of women veterans through photography, paint, and the spoken word. SHOUT! raises awareness about the issues facing women veterans and explores the intersections of art, community, health and healing. Reflection Press presents… Radical and Relevant Children’s Books; fostering a publishing revolution from within
In our first ever mini-conference, children's book authors, illustrators, and designers (or anyone aspiring to be one!) are invited to immerse themselves in the warm waters of a literary revolution. Where books are free to be and so are humans! Our focus is on the growing need for children's books beyond the structures of established publishing houses. During these economic times, many of the smaller publishers are diminishing while the need for books that genuinely reflect the face and experience of all of our children is ever growing. We hope to support a publishing revolution by sharing the evolving resources that free us to create high quality content infused with a spirit of social justice for our children. Advanced Online Organizing is a 2-day course for current New Media practitioners who are looking to build their knowledge and skill set. We'll cover advanced strategic and tactical topics, examine some of the newest, cutting edge practices, and examine recent movements to see how social media and online engagement can drive and support real-world actions. Topics covered will include: Managing your email program, Trends in social networking, Online advertising, Mobile engagement (SMS), Analytics, testing, and optimization. This course does not focus on technical skills, but rather on advanced strategic and tactical systems to implement a strong New Media department and effective online campaigns. While we will cover strategic uses of some tools and technologies, we will not cover implementation of specific platforms or tools. This conference is co-sponsored by the Gender and Feminist Studies and Sexualities Studies Section of the Latin American Studies Association. It will include scholars and activists from Latin America and the US speaking on three subjects: 1) Feminist and LGBTQ Movements and the State (9:00-10:45); Transnational Genders/Feminisms/Sexualities (11:00-12:45); and Encuentros y Desencuentros among LGBTQ and Feminist Movements (2:30-4:30).
