Second Board Chair Global Fund for Women

luchie started her Global Fund connection as a grantee representing Women’s Resource and Research Center, Philippines. She then became a Board member, followed by her term as Board Chair.

She is now a well-known activist on the issue of trafficking in the Philippines and on gay and lesbian issues. luchie is one of the founding members of Global Alliance Against Traffic in Women (GAATW). She was Chair of the Global Fund Board when Kavita Ramdas was hired to replace Anne Firth Murray as President and shepherded that transition. She was very involved in the first major capital campaign of the Global Fund, the Honoring Women Campaign, 1996.

To quote luchie, “Some of my most authentic and deeply intimate encounters and sustained friendships, including those with my life partner, have been with the Global Fund’s staff, Board, Advisors and supporters.”

The Global Fund, “Having gained greater visibility in the last decade, I would like it to remain and become even more attuned to the voices of women around the world and across the US.
I continue to believe the Global Fund has an important role to play in extending the influence and reach of the women of the world, joining with them to lead the way forward to a just, peaceful, bountiful, loving and beautiful social order.”
