Margo Gibney

What hits you first is Margot's determination to radically change both the juvenile UN-justice system and the education curriculum for our youth in San Francisco.

She has been at it for years, making small and large gains while challenging the social system that has been in place so long.  To make those successes possible, Margot has a way about her that provides an opportunity for people to work together.

As you get to know her over many months and years, you witness her beautiful heart at work and her wisdom.  She holds such appreciation and admiration for the young people with whom she works and they acquire an understanding of this special gift that is given to them.

The word empower may be overused at times, yet you experience the young people that work with Margot gain such insight into possibilities they never thought possible that she truly does empower young people.  It is the youth that feed her spirit, providing her the nourishment to continue challenging the system.

Her humor, laughing at those “can you believe this crap” moments makes it possible for her to plow on and provides relief in times of frustration.  She is truly a one of a kind mentor - mom - aunt - friend - life counselor to many youth who are extremely lucky to run into Margot on their journey and receive her love and support.
