Mariska Takacs Jakus

My hero was my dearest friend, teacher, confidante, life coach, cheerleader.

She was a ready source of encouragement and support, which she offered instinctively exactly when it was most needed.  She taught me that there is power in forgiveness and in gratitude.

She was gentle yet strong, shy yet daring. She was brave beyond measure and her attitude that all things are possible through faith, was a testament to her own life journey.

Her family and friends cherished her, her grandchildren long after her passing remember and adore her.

Thinking of her makes my heart sing and I am proud and grateful to be her daughter.

Not long before her passing she shared one of her sweetest memories with me.  When my father proposed to her in 1927 his words were "Mariska, be my twinkling star and shine your loving light along our path as we journey through this life together".

Mom, when I look up into the heavens I see you there and your light still shines brightly for us all.  I love you.
