Pamela Eve

Pamela Eve was my mom, an incredibly gifted sculptor who made things heavier than she was appear to be carried on the wings of angels.

She spent most of her adult life fighting.

First for Native American rights, then for freedom from an abusive marriage, then against breast cancer.

She loved fully in her short 59 years, a lesbian feminist who was direct, bold, funny, and totally proud of being who she was.

And she was proud of me, her daughter. She loved me unconditionally, supported me through thick and thin (and perhaps even when it didn't necessarily make sense to do so).

She was and is a bright spirit, a guiding presence in my life and in the hearts of so many whom she loved and who loved her.

We're doing it, Mom, one name at a time.

And as she would say, "Gaily forward!"
