The Women’s Building, Celebration of Craftswomen FAQ’s:

 

What:
The Women’s Building’s 36th Annual Celebration of Craftswomen. Featuring over 150-juried artists, this show is a unique opportunity to find gorgeous, one-of-a-kind holiday gifts, fine crafts, and contemporary art. The Celebration of Craftswomen benefits The Women’s Building, the first women-owned community center in the U.S.  Funds raised at the Celebration of Craftswomen support the work of this multi-cultural community center where women and girls achieve self-sufficiency and pursue their dreams.

 

When:
November 28, 29 & 30th, 2014

 

Where:
Herbst Pavilion at Fort Mason Center, San Francisco.  Located at Buchanan Street and Marina Blvd.

 

Tickets:
$9.00 for adults, $7.00 for seniors and students,
Free for children under 12.

How do I get there:
We encourage you to walk, bike or take public transportation. The entrance for Fort Mason is located at the intersection of Marina Blvd and Buchannan Street, in Marina District. Click here for directions. From the entrance you will have to make your way through the Fort Mason Complex to the middle pier, Herbst Pavilion.

Pets:
Please respect our artists work and leave your pets at home.

 

Payments:
Some booths will be cash only and some will take either cash or debit/credit cards. It’s always a good idea to bring plenty of cash with you. Each vendor manages their own sales and conducts business transactions based on however they are individually equipped to do so.

 

ATMs:
There is one ATMs available in the Herbst Pavilion, and another available in Fort Mason’s ‘B’ Building.

How are the artists selected?
For 36 years, our Event Committee has helped to facilitate a rigorous jury process. Since we receive many more applications than we can accept for each event, we jury each application based on their originality, quality, and how their items fit in with our ‘women-centric’ vision. We also take into consideration vendor price-points, our need to diversify the items available at the fair and other criteria. All applications are juried by a select group of artists representing their category. More about The Women’s Building:

• More than 20,000 people pass through The Women’s Building’s doors each year to use its services, take classes, hold celebrations and volunteer.

• All social services provided to our community are bilingual Spanish/English focusing on the needs low-income women and their families. They include information and referral, financial counseling, income tax preparation, access to technology, job search assistance, legal advice and a food pantry.

• As a community space, The Women’s Building welcomes events that promote arts, culture, wellness and discussion, and is the home to eleven other nonprofits that serve women and girls.
