Bilingual Food Pantry Internship Position

The Women’s Building (TWB) is a multi-cultural, multi-service center in the Mission District of San Francisco. TWB provides services and programs to empower women and girls, a home to a variety of non-profit organizations, and a community center with meeting spaces. Our mission is to provide women and girls with the tools and resources they need to achieve full and equal participation in society. We have two food pantries that provide assistance to hundreds of immigrant families each week at our pantry. We support these families with food distribution including a mix of produce and dry goods and exposure to community resources related to nutrition, employment and other social programs.

Hours: 

6-8 hours per week. Mondays 8-11 am and Thursdays from 8am-12pm, excluding holidays. (This position requires a 3 month minimum commitment).

Reports to: 

 Citlali Ramos, Food Pantry Coordinator.

Compensation: 

Upon 3 months completion, you will receive a $1,200 stipend or $2,400 for 6 months. Depending on attendance deductions will be made.

Responsibilities Include: 

  • Assisting with on-site food pantry registration and sign-in.
  • Line management and supervision.
  • Helping with set-up, distribution, and clean-up of produce.
  • Assisting with tracking pantry attendance and occasional reporting.
  • Accompanying Food Pantry Coordinator to San Francisco Marin Food Bank to purchase items for Snack Program.
  • Assisting with various program-related projects and efforts.

Qualifications:

  • Able to clearly communicate in English and Spanish.
  • Preferred knowledge or experience with various immigrant communities and elder populations.
  • The ideal candidate will be sociable, patient, and understanding with an interest in supporting the local community.

Working knowledge of the local elder-immigrant population and culture, the ability to enhance language and communication skills, the experience of helping to support our local community, and being part of a progressive organization.
